hello there. Thank you for popping round My name is Kirsten Bayne. I live in beautiful Fife, Scotland but I am not local, my heart will always belong to Africa, South Africa to be specific where I was born and grew up. I have been in Scotland longer than I was in South Africa, but I still call it my home. I have always been a bit of a crafter - made my own clothes, made candles and even made a wooden chopping board for my mum when I was 12 years old. ( Yes, I know - not very imaginative!) Making jewellery started off as a hobby thanks to my lovely friend Yvonne who bought a jewellery course for me as a birthday gift one year. One of the best gifts I got because I love chunky necklaces but could never find what I was looking for. When I was younger my dream job was crafting ALL day. It has taken a few years but at the awesome age of 54 I have now got a studio in my garden where I spend my day crafting.... I crochet, sew and bead to my hearts content, and wherever possible upcycle, getting my yarn from charity shops and if I see a necklace which doesn't do the beads justice, I clean them then turn them into a piece that justifies their beauty. Creating makes my heart happy. I love every piece I create and I am incredibly grateful that other people love them too. I try and do as many craft markets as I can in Scotland, I will advertise where I am on my Crystal Gecko Facebook page.
